While flying around the world, I became enamored by clouds, cloud formations, sunrises and sunsets as well as various color configurations that would catch my eye. More recently, images from nature (plants, flowers, animals) have engaged my curiosity for color filled images.
Taking photos of clouds opens up the opportunity to develop the image reflecting the theme of the location, the mood of the moment, and the emotion I felt at the time. The images are there for the viewer to feel, and allow the image to connect with, and impact the heart and soul in whatever way it will. It is up to you, the viewer, to experience the image and draw value from the experience. Image was taken flying over the South African Desert.
My work has evolved over time through the manipulation of original photographs, utilizing various photo manipulation tools, into works resembling paintings of the "Color Field School" made famous by Mark Rothko and other New York artists of the mid-20th century. I strive to retain the unique color within the original photograph and blend the beauty of photography with the art of the painted image.
Many of my images have been accepted into numerous juried regional and international shows primarily at the San Diego Art Institute and various other local competitions. My Images have been collected by patrons around the world. Images have been selected for covers of a recently published books and several have appeared as permanent installations in the lobbies of large office buildings in the San Francisco Area.
